Project Accountant - AEM Division

Developed by our chemists and engineers at our advanced laboratory and research facility near Montreal, our patented Chlorine Leach Crystallization Purification (CLCP) process offers a step change industry improvement in the manufacture of ultra pure aluminium derivatives in terms of cost, energy intensity, raw materials and environmental performance. Process engineer

This is what all AEM employees do every day, whether they are at the high-purity alumina production plant in Cap-Chat in Gaspésie or at the technological development center in Montreal. As a process engineer you will be at the heart of the production activities of the Cap-Chat factory. You will also be a pivot for the optimization and process development activities of the Cap-Chat plant. Your expertise and knowledge will be used to ensure the monitoring of operations as well as the realization of improvement projects linked to current operations and to technological developments aimed at transforming AEM’s alumina so that it meets to the requirements of each customer.

Responsibilities
  • Daily monitoring and analysis of operating data and performance for all areas of the plant, including the quality of finished products

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chemistry or process engineering technologist who will work in AEM’s Technology Development Center (CDT) in Technoparc Montréal (St-Laurent, Quebec). The selected candidate will directly work with a team of experienced professional and technical staff responsible for R&D.  The R&D group is responsible for improving existing product, processes and formulating new products. The R&D work is a hands-on job working directly with bench and pilot scale unit operations. The R&D group is an important part of AEM internal growth strategy and therefore the successful candidate will interact with many facets of the company.

Job Description: Under the authority of the Technical Director, the successful candidate is responsible for supporting AEM’s operations and research and development activities.

Main responsibilities
  • Participate in the assembly of pilot systems and test benches
  • Operation of test benches and pilot systems for chemical and metallurgical processes
